The world right now is in disarray. Between transitioning out of a shitshow of a presidency, a pandemic that has changed the entire dynamic of social life as we know it, and just life in general, it seem impossible to stay inspired.
If you’re anything like me, you probably spend a lot of time scrolling through your social medias in an effort to distract yourself from the monotony life has become lately. I had to go on a mass unfollow spree recently because I was constantly faced with the unrealistic lives of celebrities that were throwing parties, making club appearances, and “quarantining” in their massive houses. My life wasn’t like that and I was slowly falling into the trap of comparison.
I had lost my job in March due to Covid and had to leave my apartment for the majority of 2020. I didn’t have the luxury of space, partying, or seeing my friends whenever I wanted because I had testing at my disposal.
I couldn’t use my usual tactic of drawing from my experiences for inspiration because I wasn’t DOING anything but sitting in bed and watching anime all day. I had to turn to my social medias for insight into my friends’ lives because I wasn’t seeing them every day anymore. I wasn’t writing because what was there to write about?
The only upside to this pandemic has been an increase of the impact that the arts has had.
Recently, I’ve noticed that many creatives have taken this time to hone in on their skills and try new things. Many of them being my friends, have become a source for my recent inspiration.
I’m going to share some things that have inspired me over the past few months.
All in all, the arts has blossomed throughout this pandemic. Every day there's new music, new art, new projects hitting the scene. I'd love to hear what you've been working on!
